Hola amigos,
I'm now in Honduras (Roatan Islands) a magnetic place that has attracted many people from around the world in search for an alternative existence from the westernised world - and I don't mean the typical hippy stuff, these folks aren't young but they're all mellow and talk to you as if they have discovered some type of secret and it's somewhere here on the Island. Naturally I'm scratching around to see what's making them tick - very intriguing. Never encountered a phenomenon like this before. Gues that's why I'm travelling!
Aside from its natural beauty, white sandy beaches and pleasing climate, this place is full of local and international ethnic character, the best from many places. The best part is the fascinating personalities here. Everyone has a story.
I've finally managed to load all of Guatemala onto the site. Could be a while before I get to blog / upload again so savour my new pics at your leisure. Will leave Honduras till I've done more of it.
A couple of days ago I regrouped with new travellers, some from my last lot and in both cases, I'm by far the oldest. It's sort of cool like that as they're all very sweet people, many of which are far more mature than I ever was at their age and I think they appreciate that I crave a little more independence than they might. For instance, I sometimes break off and do my own thing so that I can engage more with the locals and local activities than the group would otherwise prefer... then I get to tell them about my serendipitous encounters (well a selected few anyway) - some of which will stay with me for life. So for me this is all working out exactly, no far far better than I had imagined.
Asta la huego.

Genny Ross-Barons Hi Demi, I love the way you summed up the 'vibe' on Roatan. I've lived on Roatan since 2007, originally from Ontario, Canada. Check out my website http://roatanvortex.com, I'm not selling anything, just like to share stories about day-to-day life on Roatan. A couple of the stories talk about what you are describing in your posting. Thanks for visiting Roatan, and sharing how great it is :)
