Hola!
We are now in Montañita, a small village on the coast of Ecuador, which is brilliant. Getting here was interesting though. After waking up from the last night out in Cuenca on saturday morning of the 15th, we said goodbye to our families and took the first bus to Guayaquil. That bus ended up taking a few hours more than expected, and when we got to the bus terminal in Guayaquil there were no buses left to Montañita. Two norwegian guys with a small hangover at a huge bus station in the middle of a big ecuadorian port city. Well, we stood in a queue, found out we couldn´t get to Montañita, we definately didn´t want to stay in Guayaquil (dangerous), so we started asking around. And hey, with the help of our newly learned spanish we found a friend! He helped us getting to the coast on a bus going to La Libertad. In our guidebook it says "avoid the busy port of La Libertad", but with some help from Nelson, our new friend, we got a nice hostal to spend the night and we actually found the little town to be a cosy place a saturday night.
Sunday morning we woke up, took a swim in the pacific and received a call from Nelson. He was going to help us more, so he got us on a bus to Montañita and 2 hours later we arrived this surfing paradise. Thank you Nelson! Here we share a little house with 4 other students, 3 girls from sweden and one guy from ireland, and it is great. It´s a little paradise where we live, with a pool, hot tub(which is cold, awesome), lots of different trees, hammocks and so on. Many spanish students makes the atmosphere international and interesting.
The school here is different from the one in Cuenca. We are learning more grammar than before, and it is starting to get hard as we are learning about conjunctions in a foreign language. This week we had classes from 10-12 and 15-17 everyday, and next week our schedule is different. We are hoping to face out the norwegian between us in 2-3 weeks. Exciting!
The climate here is amazing, above 30 degrees every day and the ocean is crazy warm. We surf pretty much every day for a few hours, many times from 17 to sunset. Incredibly beautiful. We have also been taking a diving course and thursday we spent 3 hours in a pool and saturday and today we have spent in the sea. Diving is of course a lot of fun, and here it´s "like swimming in an aquarium", quote Eirik. Minor problems are fixed and now it´s only a small written exam that separates us from being open water divers. Adda.
Now we are sitting swetting in a internetcafé waiting for our pictures to upload and in halfhour we are going to play football. Good livin`
We are done here next weekend, so sometime after friday we´ll head north, along the coast and eventually reaching Quito before our journey will take us south to the country of Peru.
