Island of Oahu, Hawaii
In Oahu and rented a car so we could explore the area. Headed to the Bishop museum And what a wonderful spot that is. Princess Bernice was the last decendant of King Kommahmaha's. Her husband built the museum in her honor and had so many artifacts he wanted to share them. Then off to Qwesn Emma's Summer Home which was up in the lush mountains above honolulu. It was a very modest home., so not the thrill I had hoped for. The photographer had made the space look large and expansive. We drove are Wakiki and yes, it is wacky around that area. So busy! We grabbed lunch and then off to see shangra-La...Doris Duke's home. Filled with tiles and artifacts from the middle east.
The Royal Hawaiian sits right on the water and what a gem of a property. Yes, stil painted pink, but now surrounded by tall buildings. We watched the surfers and the canoes with outriggers on one side navigate their way in and out like dolphins playing in the waves. So shallow it seems like a mile long ride in. Next stop was one of my favorite restaurant's--- and not just in Hawaii mind you! Allan Wong's. Appetizers included: lobster, scallop and. Crab crabcakes, Ahi tuna wrapped in fried noodles that stood up on the plate. For main course: Peter enjoyed the lamb chops and I had the delicious short ribs. The Parma mashed potatoes with the Parma cheese kissed by the broiler to perfectly melt the cheese! Dessert which we rarely succome to was five different spoons of creme brûlée. True to form. And delicious. Then the 30 min. Ride back to hotel. Another day in paradise in store for Thursday! I hear it rained on we'd. And windy at home today. Almost tempted. Of to say it... But will be 80 degrees today. Aloha....
