Spend the morning traveling via train to Chiang Mai, arriving at midday. Went to the coachsurfer's place and explore Chiang Mai and deciding what to do next. Went to the night market and had a look around.

Today I spend most of the day traveling to Bangkok. The train was due to arrive at Bangkok at 9.55 am but it didnt arrive until 3 pm. I heard rumor the reasons that the train was late was the track down south had been flooded so the train had to travel slowly over affected area. Spends a couple of hours in Bangkok before catching a train to Chiangmai. This time I will be sleeping on the upper berth as I was not able to book one on the lower level.

Arrived at Butterworth station via train 1 1/2 hours late. I had intended to travel from here to Bangkok but once I arrived at the ticket office was told that all tickets were sold out. I decided then to head into Thailand to Hat Yai and catch a train from there to Bangkok. I finally found a mini bus and I took it. I found the leg room so tight I had to put my feet up. The train from Singapore arrived 45 mins late. Not sure the reason for it. I had read in the Lonely Planet that if people wasn't to see the Petronas Twin Towers they needed to get there early as there were limited tickets. So I decided that I wanted to do it. After seaching around looking where i can get a free ticket I found a notice saying that there were no tickets left, and this was only 8.30 am. I don't know if there was any tickets given away that day. ...

Day one (Sunday 12/12/2010) Flew from Darwin to Singapore and then catch the MRT to Tanjong Pagal station, had dinner and walked to the Singapore station where I caught the night train to KL. I slept in second class sleeper which had lower and upper berths running down the side of the carriage.
