WOW! Where do we start????
We arrived safely, the humidity hit us straight away but the yummy smell of chinese food was great! We got a transfer to the hotel and the bus driver was scary, well all the drivers were.
Our first day in Hong Kong has been great, not sure how many kms we've walked. We thought we would hit the markets first things but found out the shops don't normally open until 11.30am, we thought they had great working hours but soon realised they stay open until midnight some of them. So we happen to come accross a tourism info centre. We straight away hit the subway and went to see the "Big Buddha' on Lantau Island. We hopped on a sky rail which was awesome going through the mountains going through the clouds. We visited the biggest bronze buddha in the world. It looked good and it was interesting watching other people pray and say something to it. I had to laugh though when I saw oranges given as a gift (the stickers were still on them). We enjoyed our lunch there, Conrad got by with chopsticks but after a little while I had to ask for a fork.
We just got back from the night markets, well that was a little overwhelming. After I while I worked out I was 'missy' and apparently 'you want, you want'!
Tomorrow we are going on a tour which we are both looking forward to, we know the subway system now, but not too sure about the buses so i think we'll start on foot to the meeting place and see how we go from there.
So we hope everyone is doing well, we are fine but seriously need our feet massaged (that's happening tomorrow) and nursing a blister or two already!
Keeping you updated
Con and Dan
