Broadening my Perspective
Vienna And Salzburg, Austria
Oh where should I start. So I'm in Austria. I started off with no expectations of Vienna but knew I wanted to see an opera or some form of art. While for Salzburg I had to do both the Sound of Music Tour and Mozart Tour. :)
Everything seemed to flow very well without any former plans and I was so excited to see what Austria had to offer. I stayed with my very good friends, Denise and Stefan where I attended all the meetings in German. I understood almost nothing. But it was still refreshing to be at the meetings.
The theme in German for the year is: "Wir mussen Gott, dem Herrscher, mehr gehorchen als den Menschen " Apostelgeschichte 5:29 :) And we all should know what that translates into. :)
So the Bethel Tour was wonderful and I learnt so much of the struggles the Jehovah's Witnesses went through during World War II and the treatment of the Nazis.
I also learnt how innovative we can be in times of need. For example I have a picture of a post card. this post card looked like any normal post card but under the stamp (which one took off by soaking in water) revealed the true purpose of the post card.
Also I learnt to appreciate the fact that the English countries receive the litterature first. Because the Hungarian congregation is still yet to receive the Young People Ask II video.
Salzburg was very exciting and I learnt all the sutleties and places that were filmed for the Sound of Music. For example, poor Gretle almost drowned when the boat overturned. And the front of the Captain's house was not the same as the back. :)
Now the Mozart Tour was very informative and I think I got all the important info from the tour in Spanish. But I learnt the most from the Mozart Museum. And one letter Mozart's father wrote to him was very impressive which said that understanding people is the most important, and making friends and not attaining wealth. So they lived simple, humble lives taking pride in the knowledge and the skill of their brains (which they thanked God for) But this made me remember what wise King Soloman said about riches. It's all vanity which can be stolen and serves no purpose after live. :)
