An early start from to La Paz. We caught the 8am bus. I didnt mind the 3half hour journey too bad although poor Harry felt dreadful so we were swapping seats so she didn have to sit next to the smelly local/could get fresh air!
Bizarrely at one point we were asked to get off the bus then we realised why! the bus had to go on a ferry boat to cross the lake, a strange sight! We had to go over in a motor boat.
The sight of La Paz as we approached the "basin" at the top was just awesome, way beyond what I expected. The whole of the basin is just a sprawl of buildings. We got off the bus and were greeted by tourist police, they immediately checked if we needed a taxi and organisedone for us. We'd been recommended Loki Hostel and were pleased that they had rooms. We were in a room for 8 - 2 other girls were in with us.
Never done the hostel sharing before and found sharing with strangers a little weird at first. Loki Hostel was a great place, at one time is was obviously a grand venue. It had a really relaxed/friendly vibe.
Jess and I had a wander around - a little too much traffic/pollution for my liking. It wasnt very touristy either, we hardly daw any other "westerners".
Another roomie came in, another guy so it was nice that Wayne was not the only bloke with 6 girls! The room was 4 bunkbeds, I had the top bunk of ours, Harry was underneath. To be honest I preferred being up there cos the lower bunks were claustrophobic....and sweaty!
We were sat in the room and one of the other roomies got up...at 6pm! She described how "Vivienne's" was the best place to buy coke! It was apparently served on glass and mixed with speed - this meant that you're so high you cant sleep which is why she didnt go to bed until lunchtime! Suffice to say "Vivienne's" was not on our list of sights to see!!
We headed out to dinner...yuck! They dont really have a particular place with restaurants so its a case of eat where you can. We chose "Dumbos", a sit down fast food restaurant. Grease Grease Grease!!!
It was then back to the hostel and an early night...we were all knackered!
