After yesterday's animals of Australia, today we went for a different sort of natural delight (with a bit of help from the state of Victoria) the Great Ocean Road. We drove the surf coast from Torquay to Apollo Beach. It was all hairpin bends, sudden drops and breathtaking sea views with some weather braving surfers in each of the many bays. It's a very popular route and we came across 2 different Sunday markets and a band playing in 3 different towns.
On the way back to Melbourne we took the inland road with the same twisty roads to river gullies through forests of tree ferns and gum(?) trees then across never ending farming flatlands. All very rural, middle of nowhere stuff. There was even a herd/flock/pack (whatever the correct collective noun is) of kangaroos by the side of some woods.
See attached photo, we may may have gone a bit cheap on the hire car but it was a convertible within our budget.
