One of the world's great cities and we started it with a lie-in; David has a cold so extra sleep was ordered. Yvonne wants to point out that there was no lie-in for her last week when she was busy giving the cold to David. Then an economical breakfast. The very nice hotel wanted to charge $35 each so we went to the grocery store and bought instant porridge and bananas - $3.50 in total.
Then off on foot for major sight seeing. First we went to The Rocks the first convict settlement then former slum now historic area. We did a museum and a walking tour. The tour took us past a historic pub doing traditional Aussie fare. We shared a kangaroo and Emu pizza - very traditional. Both species tasted like beef and for all we knew were beef.
Then onto the even bigger sights of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House followed by a walk through not 1, not 2 but 3 parks back to the hotel. Retired to the pub with sore feet and enjoined mini pasties in mushy pea jus and a couple of beers, lovely.
Just booked the bridge walk for tomorrow morning, apparently one of the must things to do, a high level walk over the arches of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The company running the bridge tour advertises it has an excellent safety record, they haven't met Yvonne!!
