End of day 5. 28th June.
Finally woke up after a good nights sleep. Weather was perfect so I went for a bike ride with Suzi and her husband Zoli through the city of Szombathely. We first went around a beautiful lake, and then through the city square, and onto a market so I could get some langos. Was a bit oily but otherwise very similar to mums. Some old lady didn't like that we were speaking English and told me in Hungarian "sonyard pitchard eh" which translates to "your mothers $&@"/". I finally feel accepted in this country.
After a couple of slices of the worlds biggest pizza we packed up and left for Sarvar. It's a half hour drive.
As normal dad did not follow the gps, so we got lost. By chance we came upon the cemetery we were going visit anyway. Here I saw mums birth fathers grave, her baby brothers grave, and all 9 of Gecse poppos brothers and sisters graves. During my childhood I had heard the names. Now I see where they rest. Was really good to see mums dads grave. Though it's been a long time, mum found it straight away.
We then checked into a hotel, and went for a walk around town. We went to the local castle, the town square were Gecse mommo remembers having to have seen a young man hung for not joining the army, and finally had goulash at a local pub. Also saw the house where mum was born in the backyard bunker during a bomb raid. By luck the current owner was home and let us have a look around the backyard. The bunker has been replaced by a pool. The side door archways are still original, the water well, as well as the stable and blacksmith area. Mum was rapt that we were able to see. I was also rapt as this was one of the places I really wanted to see. The local creek was still there, and the bridge she used to play near. Lots of memories.
Did some food shopping at a place very similar to Aldis and have retired for the night.
This is the first time I have had wi-fi since entering Hungary, we must be getting closer to civilisation!

Dee Today sounds like a pivotal day in your trip! You've always talked about seeing all of these things and it's finally become reality. Your Mum would be so thrilled showing you her heritage. I hope one day I can see all of these places with you too.
