5th to 8th March 2008
Singapore was hot and steamy and unfortunately wet on the first morning but that gave us time to recover from the long flight from Hobart. We walked in Fort Canning Park, the original government hill, enjoying the exotic flowers and aromas in the spice garden, and learning about the surrender of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942 on our visit to the "Battle Box"inside the fort. In the evening we met up with Vivien whom we met on our trip to the Grand Canyon. We had an enjoyable evening driving out of the city to have dinner at the Yacht Club and learning more about life in Singapore. The following day we walked to the temples in Chinatown, visited the South Asia Museum and ended the day with a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar at Raffles, which cost more than our dinner for two days!!!
