Thursday 9th August
We woke up to frozen tents, it was minus 6 - its supposed to be getting warmer! A long drive today on our way to B.A. The landscape is changing from desolate Patagonian steppe to Pampas. There's grass for the cows to eat now! It rained this afternoon so we opted to find a hotel for the night to save getting the camping gear wet before we spend four nights in a hotel in Buenos Aires.
Friday 10th August
About 500 km to B.A., driving through vast expanses of grazing land dotted with trees and cows. Unfortunately the weather is not improving as we had anticipated. It is slightly warmer but we had cloud and rain again today. Arrived in B.A. at about 5 p.m., a very modern city with French, Italian and Spanish influences.
Saturday 11th August
We had a guided city tour today - walking, using the underground and buses. The city's architecture was enhanced by the clear blue sky and sun today. We were shown around the main square where the Presidential palace is - Casa Rosada - and the famous balcony where Eva Peron stood. We learned about some Argentian history from our guide who is a Porteno (native of B.A.) and an ex - Exodus tour leader. We also visited the colourful artisan district of La Boca and the Tango district. We hope to take in a tango show whilst we are here.
Thanks for all your good wishes on the birth of Isaac.
