All the winter woolies out today. If feels like Methven here, the clouds were hanging metres from the ground and the air is thick and damp. We headed to Killarney where we were taking an optional jaunting ride (horse and carriage ride) into the town. Our tour guide had undersold it., he had simplyt said, its one of those things you should do, like taking a Gondola in Venice, you need to take a jaunting ride in Killarney. Starting with the fact that our driver was a young irish lad :) with such a strong accent he had us in fits of laughter. "dirty fiff years old was his horse. The ride took us thru a large park where we saw wild deer and beautiful bush. The interesting thing here was that they had a pest growing in the park which they had to set up a removal programme for.... RHododenrens. They will pulling them out everywhere as they were taking over the gardens. Nice problem to have.
We rode into another old castle and then thru into the town, with just enough time for a quick shop. Then we travelled around the ring of kerry stopping for lunch a few picture shots. It was a shame the weather was so poor as we are told the few is far more spectacular that what we saw, however, it was still an enjoyable time and was completed by another great meal on the Beare Peninsula.
Now we are about to board our chariot to be winged away to our next destination
