Out And About, UK
New music- Life is about variety.
We’ve all done it, got into the car and automatically press play on the CD player only to listen to the same CD that’s been in there for the last few weeks… usually something like “Hits of the 80’s” - “Rock Anthems” and the like. Or maybe turned on the radio in the kitchen, that’s been tuned to the same station since the day you bought the radio and still you grumble to yourself about the same old songs and radio station play lists.
Also with the likes of iTunes, Amazon we purchase Songs/Albums based on what we like and what we know. Admittedly in this day and age who can afford to splash out on a new Album every other day, just on the off chance that just because the single you heard you liked, the whole album will be the same. I think we’ve all made that mistake, the artists creative juices ran out long before the end of the album.
Why not give your ears and your mind a refreshing break from the same old stuff….
There are many different platforms to listen to new (and old) music. Depending on where you are in the world may restrict you as to what you can access, but in general there is something for everyone….
From internet radio stations where you control what you listen to, such as ”Jango” “Last FM” to other playlist platforms like “Spotify” but all will still give you a variety of new Music/Artists. Many more are available and on the most part they are FREE and LEGAL. No more need to download music illegally from some dodgy site, running the high risk of infecting your system with a virus. (info)
New Artists rely on media exposure and airplay. This is difficult enough as most radio/TV seem only to promote mainstream music to boost their ratings and I dare say income too.
Album sale and live performance.
Album sales are declining, and have been for some time. Due in the most part by peoples depleting disposable incomes and that you can now just download individual songs. New and existing Artist’s rely more and more on income from live performances. This is only possible if they get the exposure to generate interest.
So give your ears a treat and try broadening you listening. You’ll be surprised at what your missing..
