Howdy all, I thought I would update you all and let you know how I'm getting in fair old Australia!! Well after arriving in Oz and getting to my Aunty and Uncle's i had the easy task of finding somewhere to live and a job... easy right? Well i'd planned to have a job and be out of my aunty and uncles within two weeks.... obviouslt this was pretty hopefull!!
Well in between spending a stupid amount if time on the internent applying for everything and anything, i spent a lot of my time catching up with the family, playign with kids and reggie and getting to go to the kids footy games and presentations and stuff which was really cool. I booked some appointments to view some apartments in sydney and stay there for a night in the hostel to get an idea of what is going on and what is around work wise/apartment wise. The few flats i looked at were pretty shabby and i would have to share with four people to a tiny room which was not what i wanted. The girl i met in Philly (Annabel) had told me a bout a group called 'Sleeping with the Enemy' which has a group of apartments that is advertised for travellers/backpackers so i had a viewing there the next day. As is was in Syndey, staying at the hostel there was of course some people that were going out that night and it would be rude not to go with them. Cue a very bad hangover and a twisted ankle.... don't ask what happened as i can;'t really remember but either way i believe that i had a good night. SO the sleeping with the enemy flat was really nice and they had a bed available for the end of next week which was perfect for me. Its a lrge flat with 9 people in total and you share a room with one other person,
With the flat sorted i just needed to fnd a job and after 10 days of no joy i caught a lucky break when, after applying for the same job three times i got a call of them as the person they had ready to start had to cancel, can i come in for a n interview at 8am tomorrow? You bet i can... cue the 5am wake up to get to syndey and the interview. IT was all well worth it though, got mysefl the job working for the visual communications team on a 9 week tender writing project as a project coordinator for 30 bucks an hour which is really good.
So the weekend before i started the job i moved into my new flat and met all my flatmates, they were all awesome! I live with an american girl, 2 columbian girls, 2 belgian guys, a german girl, a french girl and a german guy. There is also a flat above and below us so there are another 18 guys and we all hang out together and everyone is really friendly. We all do somethign most nights like playing footie, poker, going for a couple of beers (surprise surprise) or taking a stroll around the city! All in all going very well, i've finished my first week which was bearable and had my first proper nights out with the flatmates. REally loving the city and the people!!! I'll update you all in a couple of weeks! Hope your all well. Take care
