Blood and poo splatter on a toilet isn't a great thing to see at your new campsite is it? Nevertheless that's what we've found. However, the hytte is yet another 50% bigger - the biggest we've had and only cost 400NOK, plus there's cutlery and utensils. Also there's a plug socket for me to plug my self-rewired unearthed plug for my trimmers. And it works!! I'm an electrical genius. Did jump when I plugged it in and the trimmer was already turned on, though. Bzzz. We're just entering Bergen now. Looks pretty nice. However, all Ben wants is a big slab of meat.

Bergen is like Newcastle but with more blondes and colourful houses. Streets bustling like an ant farm, cranes turning mechanically, a couple of homeless people, a one-way system, a fish market, an evident tacky night-life and a cocky waitress. What lifts it above its similarities to the Gate to Scotland is its undercurrent of typical Norwegian hospitality (apart from the waitress). I, however, was not a hospitable guest due to the also typical Norwegian weather. Rain. Oh the rain! Insistent and incessant. I'd be fine but it was getting into my trainers via the little hole underneath, and my walking motion was turning the shoe into an actual water pump. Happy Feet this was not. Especially since my favourite trainers that I had since I was 15 have finally come apart. Never mind, we got back to the cabin and watched Fincher's version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Not as powerful and compelling as the Swedish original but stylish and easier to follow (maybe Fincher thought it necessary to spell it out for the Americans... and me).
We also decided today to not come to Bergen for National Day. The parking, we were warned, would be a nightmare. We don't want that, so we're gonna move on to Hardangerfjord tomorrow. A little gutted to be honest, but I'm holding out for the spring folk dance music festival and the first of the years cider!
Financial fail of the day:
Either £8.34 for a Coke and a little cappuccino, or £10.83 for 2.5 hours of parking.
