The trip from Mildura, Victoria to Burra, South Australia was very interesting. We stopped for lunch in Rennmark which would be worth a visit again one day. Situated on the Murray River, it was a very neat and pretty town. Since we were in the area I had wanted to go to Banrock Station ( of Banrock Station wines fame ). They have reportedly been doing wonderful things with restoring the wetlands on the Murray River. After another tussle with the GPS and a bit of abuse from Trishy for taking her on gravel roads, we finally made it to Banrock Station. We were not disappointed, the rehabilitation they are doing is exceptional and not just a wine sales gimmick.
After leaving Banrock were were off the main highway and on interesting back roads along the Murray. Great views! At Walkeri were had to go by fee car ferry over the Murray to continue our trip to Burra.
Initially we thought we would book in for four nights but are now extending to 6. So much to see and do . . . . this place is a living Museum. Plus there is a Palaeontology lecture Monday March 26th that we want to go to.
The Town Hal had a stage area with dressing rooms to choose whatever clothes you want ( free of charge, no supervision, on trust ) then you take photos of yourselves.
So much I could say but the photos will explain.
