Leaving Bundaberg region: Next camp Cania Gorge: Wed 27 June 2012
Another grey drizzling rainy day, but at least the radar sites show clearing skies for tomorrow, so we will be packing up our tent then to ride off to the scenic area inland from Gladstone, called Cania Gorge. We have pre-booked at the Top Tourist Caravan Park there, as it is right next to a national park and several good bushwalking areas. Because it is school holidays in Queensland we are aware we have to check caravan parks aren't full before we get there, though with the unusually cold wet weather Queensland has been having, there aren't many people out travelling. The tourism operators are looking sad as all the people just aren't turning up.
Today we geared up and rode 2-up on one bike into Bundaberg to see a movie: Snow White and the Huntsman. The cinema was full of others like us, looking for something to keep us amused on a windy wet day. A jolly good movie too, very entertaining. A fairytale based on Grimm's Fairy tales and not a Disney version for kids, as it has an "M" rating. Really is about the battle between good and evil forces, with medieval costumes, battle scenes, castles, great coastal rocky scenery, and cute dwarves who don't whistle as they work. (They reminded us of a lot of Ulyssians we know….oops! Who said that?)I enjoyed the musical score with the movie too, and lots of historical symbolism. Kept us campers happy anyway.
After the movie we had a big roast meal at a food hall at 4pm which means we are just having fruit and green tea for evening meal in our igloo tent tonight. We forgot we have run out of alcohol dammit. Never mind….tomorrow is another day, and another camping spot is looming.

John B Cania Gorge provided an interesting walk - but you will enjoy Canarvon Gorge more (couple of days) - the town of Mitchell has an interesting museum and has a very warm spa in swimming pool complex (free camping at Neil Turner Weir)...hope to see you soon...the cold weather is at least forcast to be rain free
Big Bro Just thought I had better let everyone know its your Birthday, while wishing you all the best for today. Love the on going saga, hope you are keeping clear of the Grumpy Greys . Bye for now Alan
