.......The Brown Stig... Periyar to Cochin
It had been raining all night... And as I drew the curtains in our mountain top chalet, it was clear that Dave and I should give the 8 hour jungle walk accompanied by the hanging on leeches a swerve!
So we headed off a day early to Cochin. The journey back down the other side of the mountain was breathtaking.....endless tea plantations and clouds nestled in between the distant summits...however, very quickly we found ourselves holding on for dear life.
Some say the late great Aryton Senna learnt all he knew from this man, others say he was so fast, he could outrun the 6 million rupee man at the age of 6....... We knew him as our very own driver, The Brown Stig....
For almost 2 hours, our lunatic driver, Brown Stig overtook everything in site on cliff edged blind bends...now unable to take in the stunning surrounding landscape as we focused on when the journey would end....fortunately we arrived at our destination in one piece.
Our hotel was perfectly pleasant in Cochin.. Although there was one problem, being part of a Muslim chain, they served no.....Kingfisher.
We therefore swiftly set off downtown and found the Grand hotel Bar to watch the Indian Grand Prix.
We have 3 more nights, and has certainly been an incredible experience. The knowledge we have both acquired on India and its culture has been invaluable, and could never be learnt from books or television. But there is no place like home, and so we know look forward to seeing familiar faces and our family.

Janet Is that you on the elephant? Loved all the pictures and blogs, I bet the family love having you there. Hope you get to do the wildlife trip, use soap on your shoes to stop the leeches getting a grip. Don't worry, they don't hurt! A few more Kingfishers should replace the blood loss! Love Janet xx
Dad Don't think it was David on the elephant! But did you venture on an elephant ride? Great that you have uploaded nearly 50 photos and a video in such a short space of time....Can't wait for the photos of Cochin, Kovalam and the other scenic parts of Kerala. Have you tried the fried fish? TTYL
