In the Rocky town of Jasper where you know you're in the wilds when you come accross elk strolling down the street, not to be messed with. Went mountain biking in the 'backcountry' as they call the wilderness here and didn't meet a human soul for hours. Just some moose, more elk & deer. They tell you to yell as you go around corners or into shrub on the bike so as to give any bears warning that you're coming so you don't bump into them...
Hooked up with a couple of French girls travelling the same way as me for a while so spent the last week touring Edmonton and Calgary, oil country (and also Redneck country). This is the land of oil and massive Pick Up trucks. We rented a modest size car - which wasn't easy (and wasn't even possible to get a manual here) and did a bit of a road trip to the amazing Rockies.
