Today was a day of contrasting gardens. The one more highly rated in the guide book was rather disappointing, the other was a joy! We started (via SkyTrain) at Queen Elizabeth Park which did have views out over the city - and now with a blue, cloudless sky - and a couple of pleasant quarry gardens but it didn't have much to detain us for long. We'd not really planned to visit VanDusen Botanical Gardens but had time to spare and it is in the same area and we were lucky enough to find a bus to take us the couple of blocks along to it.
The Botanical Gardens were a delight. The gardens themselves are lovely and there was the added bonus of a sculpture exhibition throughout the gardens. We've lots of photos so will try to be selective for the blog. Jill had been hoping that there would be an 'Afternoon Tea' opportunity at some point during our Vancouver stay but we hadn't planned one. However here at the Gardens we found Tea at Truffles (thanks June - that was another of your suggestions!). We had looked at this online but have to say hadn't been excited by how it presented itself - the reality was much nicer, see photo. It was good to complete our Vancouver stay on a highlight.
Now we were off on the next step of our journey. We made our way by SkyTrain to Pacific Central Station to catch The Canadian Train 2 to Jasper - an overnight 'sleeper'.......
