45 days to go!
It seems like I've got a lot sorted in the last 15 days. I finally have someone lined up to rent my flat for the year. He's paid a deposit and there are just a few formalities to go through before he signs the contract. I don't know too much about him and have only met him briefly, but he seems a nice enough chap. I've also got various certifications done for my flat (electric, gas and EPC), so everything is proceeding quite quickly now. The only remaining things to do are changing my mortgage over to a "to let" mortgage and seeing if I have to pay tax (hopefully not!) The flat is starting to look emptier now several boxes of things are gone.
I sent off my visa form for entering India. It took ages to fill out, and they ask the most ridiculous questions. Hopefully I'll get my visa within the next few days.
We booked a trip last week for while we are at Uluru in Australia. We'll be spending a night at the Outback Pioneer Hotel, then do a 3 day trek which takes in Kings Canyon, the Olgas, Uluru and Aboriginal sites. We'll be camping out so will get a good Aussie outback experience!
We've just been thinking about how many malaria tablets we'll need for our trip. It looks as though most of South America that we are going to is malaria free. We should only need them for the Iguazu Falls in Argentina and for parts of Ecuador. The main places we need them will be in Cambodia, Vietnam and southern China. Doing the sums and allowing for a bit extra makes me think we'll probably need about 13 weeks worth of tablets. I'm due to go back to the doctors in a couple of weeks to put my order in. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.
As you might have realised I've been doing a new blog every 15 days. It's exciting to think that I'll only be doing 2 more before we leave.
