WELL!!....What a interesting start to our trip!!!
Wellington put on a miserable day to fly out... delaying our flight for almost 4 hours. Our flight along with two others were the only ones not to be cancelled for the morning at Wellington Airport.
Finaly we got to Auckland - only to have to run from the Domestic to international (via the transfer bus) Terminal to make it to our Hong Kong flight on time - with 5 minutes to spare we made it!
Bloomin packed flight, but we got a row of 4 seats to just the two of us... so it was good to be able to lay down.
We got into Hong Kong around 10pm and the temprature was 27 deg C... MAN it was muggy! Had a quick bite to eat from Burger King (Basic Chicken Burger Combo cost the equlivelant of $14NZ - YIKES!) before having to head to our next flight.
We got told off for taking a photo in the airport, but managed to snap a pic of people wearing face masks LOL - the airport was full of them! all waering gloves as well. OH YEAH!....and we got 'thermo scanned' to see if we had a temperature as well! lol.
Got onto the 747 to Frankfurt and the flight was packed out! not a spare seat in the house - so no shifting for us this time. Had pretty bad turbulance (the whole plane dropping kind) on the way to Frankfurt - Mon FREAKED OUT!! The turbuance went on for a good 2 hours maybe more as we were flying over the Himilayas. She made up a song in the end about why it was happening and that we had to get over the hills then it will be a smoother ride.... or something to that effect - she sang it over and over untill we made it through. What ever it was she did - it worked.
Got to Frankfurt only to find that bloomin Quantas had left our luggage in Auckland!!!!! We had to get our German firend Sebastian to help us out with the lady trying to help us sort it - she even dragged him from the waiting room to inside customs just so we could get it sorted lol.
Oh well, at least we have travel insurance to get some stuff to live in untill they arrive.
Had to go for an emergency shop to get a change of clothes. Dirt cheep. Got a shirt, socks and undies for under 10€
We then had a nice drive from Frankfurt to Warstien where we are now stating a couple of nights before we head away for a little road trip with our friends. When we arrived at Sebastian (number 2 - another sebastian) they had done up our room so perfect for us. We have our own bathroom - friut bowl, bottled water and onrange juice and chocolates all neatly placed in our room - and all the toiletries bought for us that you could ever need or imagine. And to top it off! - the errected the NZ Flag outside their house as a warm welcome! WOW - needless to say we were very touched about their efforts for our stay.
Slightly jet lagged... we've been awake for just over 40 hours now!!!
That's all for now.
