So March 15th came, Paddy’s Day. My best Paddy’s day so far had been in Salt Lake City of all places with Azy and Ryan a few years back. This one in Dublin with Niamh, Brian and some of there mates was going to be awesome! The morning came and we picked up Brians Aussie mates from the Airport, Kate, Kym, Janelle and Tania. They all seem really friendly and from first impression funny too. Anyhow it was into the city for an 11am start! All day drinking… my trip had served as very good practice for this day. We had breakfast out and headed straight to the pub to watch the Irish 6 nation’s game, what a game! What an atmosphere, everyone drinking and laughing together, true spirit. Honestly it was the best rugby game I have watched and I think that’s due to the atmosphere. I noticed at 2pm that I was on my 8th drink… not good, arhh who am I kidding? It was brilliant. The girls were hilarious, and we got on right away. Brian unfortunately wasn’t too well, and had to go home for a while, too many Guinness’s! Lightweight! I myself have adopted a taste for the darker side of life and continued on my quest to drink as many as possible. We ended back in the girls hotel after strolling, I mean falling around Temple Bar for a while.
It was awesome to meet these Aussie girls; they are so much fun (a little bit nuts, but fun). Kate’s boyfriend arrived the next day, Pete – also a nutter. The night was awesome camped in their hotel rooms, singing to the TV and generally having a laugh. Pete and I hit it off with a genuine love for Ron Burgundy immediately! Tania and I also get on really well, and I can’t wait to see them when I get back (since they live in Hammersmith it’s not too far a stroll!).
So my Dublin experience was over after breakfast with Tania, and the real Ireland trip began with the reuniting of a TEAM! Alma and Dave take on Limerick…
Dublin on Paddy’s Day – Awesome!
