Round the world in, ummm.....163 days!
I've arrived in NewZealand (about 10 days ago, but hey). Flew into Christchurch on the south island with the plan of renting a campervan for the 3 1/2 weeks we have to get up to Auckland on the North Island. Turns out no vans were availibly imediately so eneded up renting a tasty old Honda. 2 litre engine, twin exhaust, cruise control, and yep, eats petrol for breakfast!
Drove to Lake Tekapo for our first night on the road. Arrived in the dark welcomed by snow and temperature of 1deg! Lake looked great the next morning with the mountains covered in snow. Stopped off at Mount Cook (which we couldnt see as too cloudy) on our way to Queenstown, home of the Bungy. So.........i ended up doing a Skydive instead! Great fun even though the 45 second free-fall did seem about 3 seconds long! Got to steer the parachute on the way down too. Headed to Milford Sound fjord on a day trip while we were there too. We were couple of weeks early for the ski season which was rubish. Did sample a few of the 240 or so places that serve booze in the town!
