Darla's Travels
We have made it to Nice!
it was quite the adventure. it took almost 3 days. we went from barcelona to a smallish town in northern spain to see a museum that dali himself designed. it so happened that starting that day they had a special night veiwing of the museum from 10 to 130 am with a free glass of chapagne that apparently was dalis favorite. it was an amazing experience. unfortunately, the train station was not open when we returned at 200 in the morning. we met 3 british guys that we sitting on the front steps of the station. we befriended them after concluding that we were going to sleep in the park across the street because our next train left at 8 or so in the morning. it wasnt too bad considering we had everything packed intide the chests and they were chained to a lamppost next to us. dont worry cincerned elders, i was stationed right next to the strong defensive males. it was a rather sleeplkess night though because it seemed the types of drunk people that hang out in parks like to go there between 3 and 5 am, not anytime before. we did however make our train, sat around in the same dull border town for hours and hours, and then made it to avignon. we had tpo make a connecting train from a different station out of avignon, however. we were supposed to take a bus the 4 or so km to the avignon TGV station. unfortunately, the chests did not fit on the bus, and us, never being ones to pass up a challenge, decided to walk. so we were walking and walking. the streets were getting shiftier and seedier. and then a man came and talked to me in a very non threatening fashion, asking where we were goiung. when he found out that we were trying to walk to distance to the station and the route we were going, he began telling us that this was a very bad idea because the territory ahead was very . he told us he would take us around the dangerous part to the station. he told me to walk between gaelyn and geoff and hold someones hand. all the guys were alert as dogs. the man was extremely nice and non threatening, but discussing it later, all of us couldnt help but entertain thoughts at the time of how he was leading us into a trap. but we were cautious. it turns out that the guy was an evangelist just doing a good deed and we did eventually make it to the station without scratches, though very tired from our breakneck pace. we took a train from avignon to toulon and arrived there very early in the morning. around 1 or 2. we found a secluded, clean looking spot of the pavement and bed down again to await the train to nice at 5 in the morning. which we did. we got to nice, found a place to stay, moved in and slept a lot.
nice is a very cool place. it is good for performing. we have a friend that lives in nice (maryam). we hadnt been in contact with her and we were wondering if wed beable to find her. but we didnt need to call her because we ran into her on the street on her birthday. we were very excited.
tomorrow we are going to see pirates of the carribean 2 in english and we are excited. food here is cheap because we have a kitchen, and we shop at a grocery store called Ed.
love to everyone everywhere, i hope you are all enjoying life.
