Day 12 Thursday 20th
Good bye Uluru! We well and truly blew our budget here and will need to pull the reigns in now if ever want to stay in a hotel again but my word we have throughly enjoyed our experience here!
Back on the road. Has been nice to have a few drive free days. Heading to Kings Canyon. Only 3 hours! Easy driving except we hit a sheet of corrugated iron on the road which sliced a hole in the back of the van and took out an indicator light!
Called into Kings creek station for fuel. Most expensive yet $1.98/litre
26.5 degrees warm, yeah! The girls shouted with great delighted about dingo paws prints at our camp site. Another ensuite site with the most amazing views over Kings Canyon. Highly recommended if you're going!
The girls went straight to the pool and James and I straight to The Thirsty Dingo Bar for G&T! Typical out back bar, corrugated tin, gum trees and some lauded back locals (some of whom were on a work farewell and had obviously put in some hours before we got there!
Watched another beautiful sunset over Kings Canyon from the van while JD got some advice and cautions from our neighbour Luke who was traveling for a year with their family of five.
Our girls were enthralled by the dingo that wander freely round the camp ground scavaging what ever they can steal off tables and out of tents. BBQ then one of Micks downloaded movies. Poor Matilda had a complete meltdown when she couldn't find Stinky Bobbies! The thought they had been taken by a dingo literally brought her to her knees.
Fortunately she had hidden them safely in my bed!!
A lot of thought and discussion about the Chamberlain Family and poor little Azaria!
