Today we arrived in Donegal, Ireland where we are staying at the McErlain family vacation houses...yes this family shares a lot! They all live within walkin distance of each other, they share a bakery, and they share 3 vacation homes in Donegal. Donegal is on the western coast of Ireland, so we crossed a border on our long drive here. The houses sit in the middle of a golf course and have an amazing view of the golf course and the beach! After dinner, we put pants and sweatshirts on to take a long walk on the beach and hike on the cliffs. We collected numerous seashells in our pockets on the beach and stood in the shallow, cold, clear water. As we walked the sun was setting and the fishing boats were coming back to dock, it was so peaceful walking on the beach with family in the sunset. Where the sand of the beach ends there are cliffs over the water and a path on the side up the top. We hiked on the mossy, wet ground and learned a lot from our "guide", our cousin, Nole. He told us about the potato ridges, where farmers used to plant their potatoes because as the rain water drained, it would drain in the ridges and water the potatoes. We also saw abnormally large slugs all over the ground. I am having such an amazing time in Ireland!
