Richard Fogg - 80 Years Around the World
The Red Fort at Agra was amazing. It was where the sultan who commissioned the Taj Mahal mausoleum was imprisoned by his sun. He could see his building from the balcony of the room he was imprisoned in.
The maharajah had a pretty sweet deal. There was lodging for his 500 live in concubines, a swimming pool for 50 of them. The wall of his bedroom had air vents in them and women would stand behind the wall constantly fanning through the wall but never seen. It was forbidden to touch the maharajah so to wake him women donning many metal bracelets would walk along the cavity in the wall so he would be woken by gentle gangling. It's a hard life!
