So we left bangkok and headed towards Krabi. Here we would be staying with some friends from back home called lynn and John brown. To get here we had to catch a gruelling 16 hour over night bus. I decided to buy some sleeping tablets to knock me out for the journey, how ever it did anything but that. Nick and Neal were on the same bus as us as they were heading down that way too. The bus picked us up at 7 pm. First thoughts of it was this will be a great bus ride. The bus it's self looked luxury. The sort of bus which bands/ artists would travel on. They were even showing james bond movie's. After about 3 hours on it i decided it was time to take the tablets. They should kick in within about 40 minutes so i got told. I waited and waited and then i got drowsy. I wasn't really sleeping just dozing. After another 2 hours or so we stopped for some refreshments at a roadside cafe. I was really drowsy and grumpy. These things were total rubbish. They made me argumentative and look and sound like an idiot. After trying desperately i eventually got some sleep only for a few hours as we had another stop off for food and drink and to pick some more people up. From now on we should be in krabi in about 2 hours. Wishful thinking as we broke down four times after that. We eventually arrived 2 hours later than planned. From here on we had to get a cab to where we was staying. The address what we got given was easy for us to follow but not for the taxi man. He kept stopping off saying it was here but we was in the middle of know where. Third time lucky we got it only through pure fluke. We stopped off and some girls come running up to us who we had met in laos/vietnam, Teresa and Bobbi. They said it was just up the road so i went looking whilst mark stayed chatting. As i'm approaching a house which i suspect is there's i here "Mr Turner", it was john. Get in, 18 hours later we made it. I went and got mark and we sat chatting to lynn and John for about an hour. They gave us the tour and what can i say?? What a house, it's fit for a king. 5 big bedrooms all with lovely on suite's, huge lounge, kitching, lada area, sun terrace, balconys and a great swimming pool in the gardens. Pretty impressive and a dream to most people. Just shows that you can work hard throughout your life and you'll eventually get your dream. That afternoon we spent the day down a deserted beach with the girls we know and then headed back to get ready to go out for dinner with Lynn and John. They took us to a local market place in au nang town. The food was great some of the best since being away. That night me, mark and john all went out for some beers. John took us to some bars, watch football and then we finished the night off in a bar/club all completly smashed.
The next day me and mark feeling a bit worse for wear just spent the night chilling round the pool, mainly sleeping as it had been a long night. I would say working on the tan but i was to hung-over to sit in the sun. That night we went out with Lynn and John to another local restaurant to meet some of there friends and have a roast dinner. Certainly miss the old roasts since being away and it was only the second one i have had whilst being away. The plate full was huge and once again another great meal. Afterwards me and mark left, about half a stone heavier and headed out to some bars for some drinks. By mid night we came home as we was tired from the night before. We got back and started watching football. I woke up in the morning to find that mark had left me to sleep down stairs, thanks mats. Two nights there so far and i'm yet to find my bed.
This day we decided to go to a beach called raily. This is where most of the backpackers stay who come to Krabi. It's paradise, Crystal clean water, nice restaurants and bars at the top of it, not to mention the girls here. We spent most of our day here and then headed to a private beach round the corner. Once again another great beach. Can life get any better!! That evening we stayed in as Lynn had cooked a great roast for us.
The following day mark had arrange to go rock climbing so i went down the beach to lounge around and work on my tan. Around one pm he showed up with a swiss girl called Claudia who we know from Vietnam and Cambodia. We had lunch with her and then we went off to that private beach again. Once again that night Lynn had cooked another meal for us so we ate and then me and mark headed out in to town. We went to some bars and that club again. Got chatting to some girls we met and just had a laugh with them. On the way home we stopped off at burger king. My first for 3 months and it didn't disappoint me.
The next day i had arranged to go on a snorkelling tour. I got picked up at 8 30 am and thought i was going to have to cancel as i was feeling sooooooo hung-over. It took me over an hour before i could speak to any one through fear i may vomit on then, thankfully i didn't. There was about 15 people on our boat and i got chatting to some Israeli guy, some Portuguese lad and a couple of girls from essex. They were all quite a laugh. We toured four different islands seeing lots of marine an some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. A good day out. I headed back home and then that evening we and the four of us went out for dinner. (errrr can't remember what we did that night as i'm a bit behind with my blogs).
The following day the four of us went in to Krabi town and did some shopping. Well to be honest mark was the only one really shopping. Everyone got a few bits but he was getting John to drive him back and forth from places looking for a camera. He eventually got one from the first ever shop we went in too. Good way to end my last day!! That night the four of us went to some restaurant in the middle of know where. A beautiful restaurant surrounded by lush gardens. After eating me and mark headed out in to town for our final night. We thought we would make it a big one as were leaving in the morning but much to our disappointment most places were closed as it was the kings birthday. The king out here is like god and they absolutely cherish him. You can get imprisoned for destroying anything with his face on or even stamping on coins. A bit extreme i think but that's how it. We found some irish pub which was open. We have been here before but it was the busiest i have seen it as know where else was open. We ended up playing killer pool with some irish lads and girls. I was the king at it that night and no matter what i did i couldn't miss. At one stage i had 6 lives.
We woke the next morning packed and then said our goodbyes. John dropped us off at the ferry port so we could catch a boat over to Phi Phi and off we went.
Just want to to say thanks to John and Lynn. They were both very welcoming and good company. we really enjoyed our stay at there palace and had a great time so a huge thanks.
