Had to do the vias run into burma as I'd overstayed my welcome in Thailand - what a mission. First I had to get from my bungalow (in the mountains/jungkle on the east coast of Koh Phangan) to the pier. It had been raining for the past few days and Mr Pok (bungalow owner) was meant to give me a lift in his 4X4 as the road is steep, rocky and muddy. Anyways, he wasn't able to get bacvk in time so Mr Kop (the chef) gave me a backy on his moped. What an experience. We neadly came off about 5 times and I ended up pushing him up most of the hills. By the time I got to the piwer, I was covered in mud. Then I had to get the night ferry to Surat Thani. It arrived at 4am and it was pissing hard. Our minibus to take us to the border wasnt due to pick us up[ for another two and a half hours so lots of waiting about in the rain. It was then a 3 hour ride to immigration to pay my fine for overstaying my visa and get an exit stamp. We then hopped on a longtail boat to cruise acrtoss the choppy sea to Burma, get our passport stamped then reverse the process again. Ended up getting back to Koh Phangan at about 20.00. 24 hours travelling, am well knackered. Couldnt get hold og Mr Pok to collect me so spent the night in Thong Sala. Am hoping to intercept him tomorrow when he does the grocery run (plus some other wheeler dealing).
