Today we went on an ATV tour.
Ya get a quad bike a helmet and a quick brief on how to stop and start and then off we went following our guide.
We drove a little way along a track by the beach to get used to it then off to a turtle farm. Apparently they collect the turtle eggs and keep them in little sand holes, then when they hatch they release them to the wild. They release about 800000 a year and only 1% survive.
Then it was up in to the mountains behind Jaco. This is where the real fun began! This was all off road, so you could really push the bike hard and get the back end to spin out! Lots of fun!
We got to the top of the track and there was a security guard for some reason. He has a little cheeky monkey pet. Ollie. Ollie likes to jump all over people and that he did. I managed to get some pics of Mel with him and then put the camera away. He then decided that he wanted to play with me so whilst he had his tail wrapped round my neck Mel got the camera out of the pouch on my belt. The monkey saw this and must have seen the bank cards in the pouch. He grabbed them both. Decided mine was more shiny and jumped off with it! The security guard and the guide chased after him. The monkey jumped all over the place, up in the trees, round the back of his little cage. Finally managed to get my card back. Unfortunalty I am not with HSBC so if I lost my card to a monkey I would be screwed
Perhaps some surfing later but the waves are pretty rubbish and small at the moment. Hopefully they will be much better in Lima.
