Blog Day 46 Tues 21st June 2011
We venture out for our last game drive in our little car early this morning, we drive around for a couple of hours, although we fail to complete the big 5 as we don't get to see the Leopard or Buffalo but after yesterday's lion sighting we can't really complain though we do get extremely close to some baby zebra & manage to get some fantastic pictures & we see the Giraffe & the usual Wildebeest, Impala, and Springbok. We leave by about 10.30 as we are heading to a restaurant in Gauteng not too far from Rob & Val's, called Carnivore, the setting is amazing & the food is so good, they come around and carve of the meat onto your plate its boiling hot & all freshly done. It's weird eating all the Game meat that we have seen over the last few days running around the Game Reserve but they taste yummy so we don't feel too bad. Rob & Val come & join us which is so great of them & really round our time in South Africa off. Once we are all stuffed & ready to go we head onto the airport early just in case we get lost as we need to drop our Safari mobile off on time as well. Upon arriving at the airport in good time & on our own we find the place to drop the car off & head into the airport, it's around 4.30 & our flights not until 10, we can't eat because were too full up but there are plenty of shops to keep us occupied. We decide to check our check in time so we know how much time we have to mooch around, only to find out that our flight has been cancelled, yes I said cancelled, apparently the flight from the day before was moved to today & our flight was also moved but to 5 so we had actually just missed it. Panic sets in as we start to worry about what we are going to do. The guys on the desk are so friendly & helpful though & they put us up in a 4* hotel, dinner, bed & breakfast all included no fuss at all. The hotel is amazing, the first thing Trish makes use of the huge bath & the first thing Dan makes use of is the satellite T.V. After a lovely meal we hit a nice comfy bed for what could be the last time in the next 2 & ½ months.
Blog Day 47 Wed 22nd June 2011
After a great night's sleep & use of a lovely hot shower we have the most wonderful breakfast, honestly anything you could imagine, it is up there on offer. Cooked Breakfast, Croissant, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast, cheese & biscuits so much, we try to do it justice as much as possible. On happily going to check in for our flight we find out that we weren't even place onto it..GREAT!! After much confusion fortunately not just for us it happened to many others too, we are listed onto the flight & try to bag first class but they are having none of it so we settle for extra leg room (not that Trish needs it). Finally after a bit of shopping we board the plane & are on our way to whatever lies ahead of us in Bangkok. Goodbye South Africa we will defiantly be back again soon!!
