Blog Day 161 Fri 14th October 2011
We have the alarm set to be awoken by 7am so that we can catch Dan's parents on Skype. After chatting away for over an hour we chill out until check out time which is 10am. We were going to be heading on towards Tin Can Bay today but as it's only a couple of hours drive away so we decide to check out cinema times as we haven't been in over a month which is sacrilege for us.
As we make our way up the road we realise that the driver side windscreen wiper is missing. Upon arriving at the cinema we check it out & discover that the wiper has been snapped of & the washer tube pulled out as well, probably by some loony drunken idiot. We ring Spaceship & explain the situation, fortunately for us we went with the full insurance option so it won't be a problem getting it fixed. The only problem is that it can't be done until the following Friday when we arrive in Brisbane. We say that this is fine, we are in Australia, and it never rains in Australia!!
We book tickets to go & see the 2pm showing of the new Taylor Lautner (Twilight Werewolf Jacob bloke) film Abduction. As it's still only about 11.30 we head back to the hostel for a coffee & to write up a few blogs. Dan gets talking to the receptionist about the best boat to go out on for the Humpback Whale watching. Apparently Hervey Bay is one of the best places in the world for viewing the Humpback Whales during their annual August-November migration. We had wanted to do this but wasn't sure if we would have the time. After a quick phone call to Tasman Venture we are put on a boat for the following morning free of charge. This is great & we are really excited to be checking it out, this does mean though that we now have nowhere to stay tonight as there are no local campsites. A cheeky chat to the receptionist again & we are booked into the hostel for one more night, again for free, with no hesitation at all. 2pm rolls round & we have the aroma of popcorn filling our lungs & soon after our stomachs. The film itself had a good plot but we feel it was very cheesy (he will forever be Jacob Werewolf bloke). The rest of the day is spent catching up with more blogs & chilling out. A dinner of beans on toast with onion, pepper & ham puts shame to the bowls of plain noodles & plates of tomato on toast that surround us. Sometimes we think people simply cannot be bothered!
