Blog Day 127 Sat 10th September 2011
Ok so today pretty much ends up going the same way as yesterday, must be the change of timing & atmosphere because our sleep pattern is all up the shoot. We rise around 10ish once again thanks to the sound of a hoover making its way into our room until again they realise we are actually still in bed. We jump in the shower & get the 11am shuttle down to the Esplanade. We have researched a couple of café's for cheap food & the lonely planet recommended one called The Lillipad. Food portions here are meant to be of a good size. Just as we sit down we see the size of the portions & decide that we will share a brekkie burrito that way saving some pennies at the same time!
Following this we take a wander around & pop into a couple of travel agencies to find out some information on tours that we want to do & also means of travel down the east coast. First stop is Peterpans, one of the places we have been told about, the girl here desperately wants to sell as much as possible mainly rowdy party boats & doesn't end up giving us the information that we really wanted. Still we get a quote for the major things & head off to think about it, as we are walking we stumble across another place called happy travels, we decide to just pop in & see what they can do. The girl here (Sharne) is much friendlier & she definatly knows her stuff, she says that she can beat the quote we got from Peterpans. So we have a chat & change a few options, she ends up digging out the same price but says give to give her a day or so & she will see what she can work out for us. It's once we get talking some more that we discover in 6 weeks' time she will be back in the UK looking to find work, possibly setting up in the travel industry. Dan grabs this opportunity to mention his Dads Company & all of a sudden 2 hours have passed & she is talking about getting tours for free or at least at discount for us. Happy Days! So we leave it at that & ask where we can go watch the rugby, she tells us about a place called the Courthouse where Corona is just $3.50. Happy Days AGAIN!
We take our seats & meet a lovely couple who are doing the same route as us down the east coast also considering options of camper vanning it. Then England-Argentina kick off, it's a tense game but at least we are not the only ones wearing our England rugby shirts. The atmosphere is electric, it's a shocking game but we still won. Well done England!
Once the game is over we are starving, we share a pizza to fill a whole & soak up some of the alcohol before taking a wander back to the drop of point to get the return shuttle back to the hostel. It's 11pm the earliest we've made it to bed in a while & doesn't take long to drop off. Unfortunately we are awakened by a group of idiots who are running track around the hostel screaming & shouting. Its 1am & we are now wide awake & not best pleased.
We sit up for a couple of hours & read before deciding to try & sleep again once the group have been moved on. Another restless night ensues.
Blog Day 128 Sunday 11th September 2011
Firstly a huge Happy Birthday Mummy Willden, hope you have a lovely day & a great party tonight, lots of love from us both!
Secondly we didn't sleep very well at all last night thanks to a very noisy hostel. We get up, get showered & grab the free shuttle bus into town where we head back to Lillipad for the brekkie burrito. A real Man vs Food or should we say Trish vs food moment ensues when we almost decide to order two of these things. We don't though as this would just be a waste of money and food! The staff in Lillypads never seem to be in a hurry either so we don't want to put too much on their plate by ordering too much. Let's just say it went down really well and yes we did take photos!
After this we go into happy travels to see Sharne, she has come up trumps & is excited to tell us that she has managed to book us onto a boat trip tomorrow to the Great Barrier reef, on the original boat we had been looking at too for half price as a guest with her. Pretty exciting stuff!
The rest of the afternoon following is pretty much taken up with rugby world cup, we head to the Courthouse again this time no beers though just sprite & a huge bowl of chips, last night wasn't particularly heavy but we are feeling the effect of the Corona that we did have. Australia vs Italy and then later on Ireland vs USA which ended in an Irish win. This is followed by South Africa vs Wales with South Africa only managing to win by 1 point, we were sitting there in our Springbok & Stormers jersey's (Ettiene would have been so proud). Once all the rugby is finished we stroll back to wait for the shuttle bus back to the hostel, it's supposed to have arrived at 9, but 20 past 9 comes around & still no bus. We have no choice but to walk it or pay for a taxi, we figure it's not that far & seeing as we are walking pros this should be a breeze. However 30mins later arriving back at the hostel we realise it was further than we thought but we made it with ease. Bedtime shortly follows.
