Blog Day 151 - 152 Tues 4th - Wed 5th October 2011
For the next couple of days we relax around the beautiful area that is Airlie Beach. The lagoon in the area is fantastic, by far the best we have been to so far. BBQ areas and sun-kissed bodies are everywhere so it's not surprising that we hang around here for a while catching some rays. Airlie is quite a small town which we cover easily in about half an hour. As well as relaxing in the sun and working our way through our books we also need to sort out our Whitsundays trip.
Back in Cairns Sharne put us in contact with Phil, the director of True Blue Sailing. They have 2 boats that go out to the Whitsundays and after hearing about the possibility of future business with Dan's Dad's company, he can't put us on a boat quick enough!
On the second day of chilling we meet up with Phil in the arvo (afternoon) at True Blue's office its right next to the lagoon, touch for us and he gives us the low down on the boats, New Horizon and Atlantic Clipper. At first we were due to be going out on the New Horizon. It's more of a couples, relaxed trip which sounds great to us. Unfortunately a big group has filled the boat at the last minute which means Phil has had to put us on the Atlantic Clipper. The Clipper is more of a fun party boat. It still looks pretty cool and hey, beggars can't be choosers.
Phil takes us down to have a look around the New Horizon before she goes out on Wednesday. It's a huge wooden sail boat that they bought up from Tasmania. It has tons of sun bathing areas as well as a great dining area, all in all we can see that the general vibe on board is to sit back and relax.
After seeing the New Horizon we are keen to get on board the Clipper and get out to the Whitsundays tomorrow!
