We had a very productive day today, despite the enormous amounts of rain. We woke up early, took showers, and headed to the bus stop. At the first stop we went inside the Gasson Diamond Factory. It was very cool, we learned about the 4 C's of diamonds and actually saw them polishing and working on diamonds. At the end of our tour, we were taken into a show room where we saw several 100+thousand dollar diamonds as well as some smaller more reasonable ones. Leigh saw a diamond she wanted...too bad it was 60,000 euros!!!!! After the diamond museum we jumped back on the bus and headed to the next stop....the Van Gogh Museum. Luckily we bought our tickets yesterday, so we didn't have to wait in line out in the rain. The museum was very neat...three floors of very interesting art. After some time in the museum we walked across the street to the Coster diamond museum (a free perk that came with our bus tickets). It was pretty neat as well. By this time it was at least 1:30 or so so we needed to get some food. Back towards the bus stop, a Hard Rock restaurant was calling our name. Since Leigh had never been to one and we were both starving we just had to stop in. When we came out of the restaurant a cute little cat was waiting for us...it made Leigh happy!!
After lunch we decided to head over to the Anne Frank house. We were about 2 minutes late for the bus and instead of waiting another half hour for the next bus, we thought it would be a good idea to walk instead. After a nice half hour walk through old Amsterdam, we arrived at the Anne Frank house in the rain once again. This time the rain wasn't letting up and the line was so long...it would have taken a couple hours of getting wet to get in so we decided to head back to the hotel and wait for the rain to stop. It didn't! When the rain let up a little bit, it was about 8:30 and by this time the Anne Frank house was closed...Bummer. We just walked back to the red light district for some quick laughs and a drink at the old sailor bar. After our drink we headed back to the hotel again to call it a night.
Tomorrow we head to Paris, we have to catch an 8:26 train so we'll be getting up early. It stinks that we didn't get to see all the things we wanted to here, but we saw a good amount. Hopefully we'll be able to see as much of Paris as we can with the sun shinning because walking around in the rain is not the most fun. Have a great night everyone, we're heading to Paris!!
