Well where to start......... Chaing Mai was definatly an expreience!! We arrived at our hostel ,the staff were really friendly and very helpful, so we booked a trip with them for 3 days, where we stayed over night with a hill tribe in the jungle and trekked for 3 hours up the mountain where we saw the clouds covering the mountains because we were so high up! The view was amazing, that night we had a campfire and woke up the next morning with farm animals just wandering around, there were cows and chickens, cats and dogs... we had breakfast with our group and then went for another trek through the paddy fields where we were at the top of the mountain looking out onto a waterfall. when we arrived at the waterfall dan and i jumped straight in as it was so hot!! we also met an irish couple on the trek who were really nice and we hang out with them mainly. after lunch our guide led us to the elephants were we were able to go trekking. Our guide was really funny and spoke really good english, his saying was 'small but spicy!' and all he spoke about was his 'small but spicy.' lol. the elephant trekking was great and on the way round they stop off so that you can buy bannanas to feed your elephant, ours got through loads, and we have no idea how it managed to eat so much!! he was really cute and kept lifting his trunk up so we would feed him. After this we then carried on to the river where we went bamboo rafting. We could write about chang mai for hours and still not say everything we want to, it was a truely amazing trip. We havent yet mentioned the over night train how we got there! Well.... we found out on the internet that it would take 12 hours from bangkok to chiang mai and then when we booked the ticket they told us it takes 14 hours as there is only 1 train line through the whole country!! its mad! lol. in the end we were delayed for 5 hours and all round our trip took 19 hours with 1 meal!! lol. the train in itself was actually really comfortable and we both slept like a baby, so it was a really good way to travel round over night to save on accomodation aswell. bt with the delay we ended up loosing a day which didnt really matter too much in the end... as we then had done and seen what we wanted to anyway in chang mai. so we then headed back into bangkok to make our way to hua hin where we were meeting up with my nan and staying with my great uncle!
