Well where do we start????!!!! We will just say that we both cheered when we came back through the boarder into Thailand!! Cambodia was an eye opener and definatly worth experienceing, but we could honestly say we wouldnt go back in too much of a hurry! However, Ankor Wot temple was well worth a visit!!! But in Cambodia, we didnt really feel very safe. Just coming through the boarder we met our 1st scam. We saw the uniformed visa guards standing there.... but dont be fooled, although they are in uniform, does not mean they are professional. They tried to tell us that we needed to pay $40 for a visa, but we knew that it was only meant to be $20, half of their asking price so we refused to pay. In doing this they made us sit on these chairs for 45 minutes before giving us our visas back and allowed us to pay the $20. The man knew we had sussed him out so he sat behing me laughing holding my passprt in his hand!! But there is nothing we could do as if we told the police we would be in fear of getting shot! After this, we then went to find a taxi to the temple. After about an hour of bartering we found one, agreed a price to take us ther and back, payed half, after being asked to pay it all upfront so that he could drive off with our money.... we jumped in. 2 minutes down the road the cab driver stopped and demanded we payed an additional $5 in which we refused because we had already agreed the price..... he then stopped another 5 times, by this point we were getting very annoyed to say the least..... anyhow, after several hours of stopping off to see his mates so that they could sell us dud temple tickets we finally arrived to the real official ticket office, bt at this point we didnt believe a word he said and were very unsure whether to purchase the tickets bt having been told if we didnt the police would come, we decided to get them and luckily they were not fake this time..... so we wouldnt get shot!! lol. Then we pulled up to the temple...... and WOW!!! the trip there was definatly woth it!! We can now see why it is one of the wonders on the world!! It was amazing. We walked round and as we were entering a different part of the temple, a monkey jumped out on me and ripped my carrier bag open... found that there was nothing in it apart from water and walked back to the wall again ready to pounce on the next person!! lol. It was very funny at the time, he really made me jump and he started hissing at me like a cat, i thought he was going to bite me but luckily he didnt!!! lol. After walking around the temple, a young lad no older than 10 stopped us and asked us if we were hungry and if wed like to eat at his restaurant. He was such a clever kid, he knew everthing, many years i assume of learning. He knew who our president was and knew an awful lot about our country and the history behind the temple. His english was superb!! A couple of minutes after we sat down we were surrounded by children asking us to buy jewellery and post cards, and we didnt know what to do. We felt very sorry for them and wanted to give them everything but at the same time we knew they had been put up to it and didnt want to encourage it. In the end we gave them some thai baht just so that they would go before our food came!! they looked at the money, didnt quiet know what it was, or how much it was, as they have a differnt cutrrency. But they didnt go away after that they stayed. I am pretty sure they will make very good buisniss men/women in the future, if not now! lol. Ankor Wot was well worth the visit!!! And.... the ride home wasnt as bad as the ride there either, which was great because i think if it had been i would be the one driving the car whilst the cab driver chases it down the road! lol After we crossed the boarder back into thailand we jumped for joy, we jumped on a tuk tuk to take us to the bus station where we could get the bus to our next destination........
