We started our trip on a high, a 220m high to be precise. We went up the famous SkyTower and admired the spectacular views of the city and the surrounding islands. Danny dare devilled over glass platforms looking down at the ground while on level 53, I however stepped very quickly across it with jelly legs from the sight I saw below. We moved up higher to the 60th floor to take more photos of the incredible views when we noticed a woman behaving bizarrely behind us. Trying to subtly work out what the woman was up to Danny and I caught each others eye and erupted laughing. She was clinging for dear life to the central pillars and walls too scared to look out of the window!
After creating a scene with fits of giggles we quickly piled into the lift to take us to the 360 degree Orbit restaurant. The lift doors opened and we stepped out into a circular dining room pristinely laid out with a dramatic backdrop of views across the city. Over the hour the restaurant rotated slowly to give us a 360 degree view of the city. We ordered our food through a very vague understanding of the menu, we came up triumphant! We received the most incredible food we have ever tasted.
After indulging in great food and spectacular scenery we made our way down to Auckland Harbour, we strolled past lots of bars, boats and sushi restaurants.
To conclude a busy day of exploring we came back to our hostel and had a gourmet pot noodle for tea. The two extremes of a backpackers diet!
