Bangkok, Thailand
Day 1 :
So after arriving to Gatwick at around 9.30am my day was going seriously slow and knowing it hadn't even started yet was a bit of a depressing thought.
I have to say, Vietnam Airways wasn't too bad after all. It has a fairly pleasant trip ( its it's even possible to call long haul flying pleasant)
I found the flight very boring though just for the simple reason I was on my own and wasn't speaking to anybody apart from watching the lady next to me play games on her iPad I was pretty much bored out my brain. The films they were showing on the flight I've already seen but none the less after five hours I was pretty much going insane with boredom.
I must have feel asleep for a while because when I come round everybody around me was eating some foriegn version of a pot noodle...? I've got to say one thing... The seat recliners on planes for me is a bit of a hit and miss... I feel bad for putting my seat all the way back like I'm doing something wrong but having the person in front of me put his seat all the way back I believed there was something wrong with his chair it didt help that he had seriously bad dandruff I asked the steward to tell them to move the seat forward twice a bit as I felt uncomfortable.
Arriving in Ha Noi... I have nothing nice to say about the place, fro my first expirence they are con-artists waiting to prey on the innocent people that are exhausted and just want to find the nearest dark corner to sleep in (or atleast that's how I felt after arriving there) after getting off the plane at Ha Noi I had a security person demanding to see my visa which I didn't have... I didn't plan on leaving via Ha Noi as I was only passing through. So they took my passport, all my flying documents, and not having a clue what todo. I was told I would need to pay $150 for a visa to catch my next flight... After 90 minutes and many conversations later a young Vietnamese lady came and gave me my documents and said I didn't need a visa or have to pay as I was only passing through... So finally got on the plane and was headed for Bangkok..
Arrived in Bangkok after a couple of hours flight and I have to say, it was possibly the best airport I've been in. Very well organised, and very quick but then for such a small place with such a large population I gues that comes as part of the deal.
Grabbed a taxi which I was told would cost 400-500BHT it cost 450 so I was pleased.
Arrived at Silom Hostel an met a couple of travellers so far..
But for me this place is just mind boggling, in ways I'm pleased I'm only here for three days because it is so much to get to grips with I don't think its possible. I may have to stop back in Bangkok on my return before I head South or North again After I've got used to everything.
I'm I Bangkok for three days, and there's alot to see before I head out!
Sorry for the boring blog I don't expect people to read it... It's more of something for me to do of a evening to keep me busy when I'm here I shall update each day if I have the chance..
