It has been some long hard driving, but finally we made it to Alice Springs! We could have made it here quicker but we were told that it was very busy due to the Master games so we should take our time. That's all well and good but when you are in the middle of the outback with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees it can get a little tough! We've had to deal with Road trains (huge trucks with about three carriages measuring around 53 metres in length), Kangaroos, Emus, road kill that attracts giant Eagles, psychos that may or may not want to kill you while you sleep (a la wolf creek). It's all been very trying and taxing for the nerves. I'm not as young as I used to be you know.
We visited the Devils Marbles which were very impressive. Huge great big boulders in the middle of nowhere.
We pushed on to Alice and after 6 days in the middle of nowhere it is nice to be in a bit of civilisation. We're off on a safari around Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Uluru soon. We'll report back after!
