Day 18 in the world of Sam and Dani: Getting ready to leave for Bangkok tomorrow morning, packing our bags - not fun! Not looking forward to the 5am start either =s
Had a fun packed week- been into Brisbane exploring, went over to Southbank for lunch where there is a man-made swimming pool and beach right on the river side. Thats where we got our first experience of the evil birds with long beaks (forgot their name) who steal food from tables while you're sat there. Had a mooch around the shops then went on the citycat which runs up and down the river, similar to a bus.
Went zorbing on the Thursday, what fun! For those who dont know what zorbing is, its a giant inflatable ball that you climb in and get rolled down a hill. They put a few buckets of water in so we thought we'd get a lil bit wet, but actually ended up soaked!
Next day we went to Dreamworld with Becca and Jonno, which is Queenslands theme park, similar to Alton Towers. All the rides were fun, but the most exciting (debateable between the two of us, as to whether it was exciting or terrifying) called the Giant Drop. Got to be atleast 50 stories high and is like the old playstation at Blackpool, part from its ALOT bigger! Dani thought it was brilliant whilst Sam thought she was going to die!
Spent the day shopping in Pacific Fair down Surfers at the Gold Coast on the Saturday, just managing to get outfits for the night. Had another good night out and looking forward to spending New Years there =) Dani left abit before everyone else cos her feet were in pain and got a limo home, bit different from a night out in Huddersfield. On the way home Becca took us to a place called Infinity which is one of the most bizarre places we've ever been to. The only way to describe it is that it was like being in a giant kalidescope, with different themed rooms ranging from fun and funky to very scary, brilliant with a hangover. That night we went into the city to experience a sushi bar, this was another thing with mixed opinions- Dani really enjoyed it and tried new foods, but Sam completely hated it and felt physically sick.
The holiday is now over and the reality of actually having to be travellors is kicking in, bye bye hair straighteners! Up until now we're been staying in hotels or at Becca's, now the fun begins having to rough it!!
