If I didn't bore you to death with my reflection of the past year and you're still reading, fantastic, trust me things will get much more exciting as all posts from now on will be about the places I visit.
You would have noticed by the title of my page and my first post that travel is my one passion in life. I'm the guy that tried four university courses before deciding on one to finally complete, I'm the guy who has a new long term career plan every month and the guy who has taken up nearly every hobby you could possibly imagine. Yet the one thing that remains consistent in my life is my travel (and my gorgeous girlfriend of course!).
I've been very lucky so far in regards to travel. I've traveled Europe extensively, spent 2 months in South America, travelled to Thailand, seen lots of Australia and even stopped over for some exploration in the Middle East. I feel my best when I'm on the road, there is a famous quote that best describes my feelings about the experience of travel.
"When you're travelling, you are what you are right there and then. People don't have your past to hold against you. No yesterday's on the road"
- William Least Heat Moor
Another area of interest of mine is photography. Admittedly photography is one of those 'hobbies', although it has lasted much longer than most, thats probably something to do with the fact I spend $2000+ on a camera and I feel obliged to keep using it! In all seriousness though, I do really enjoy photography, except unlike traveling I'm not very experienced or any good at it.
Enough about me, as I said earlier, here on in is about our travels. I'm hoping to provide you with some great incites into my (and Han's if I can recruit her as a special guest writer from time to time) favourite destinations and experiences as we travel our way through 2013. I have a particular interest in food, so if you don't like when people post photos of amazing looking meals, this may not be the blog for you! I also love architecture, so expect lots of pictures of buildings, skylines, sculptures and landscapes.
I have a very big year ahead that is going to take me to some very exciting parts of the world including the USA, Scandinavia, Africa, South East Asia and of course some more of the United Kingdom.
It all begins next week with a 2 and half week solo trip to the USA beginning in New York City! NYC is one of those places that everyone talks about, most claiming it to be their favourite city in the world. I'm very excited to find out just why this is and to finally explore the Big Apple and other cities of America for myself.
I look forward to bringing you my next post from the USA!
