Kylemore Abbey
Kylemore Abbey was orginally built for a man's wife as an expression of his undying affection. After her untimely death, it became the property of the Benedictine Nuns who have turned it into an elite boarding school. The castle built for love and maintained by the Sisters is phenomenal in its beauty, yet the Abbey would not be nearly as beautiful without the landscape.
The statue of Mary and the baby Jesus
The wood was not carved with fine detail, but the precision of the message in which it depicted was glorious in its simplicity. Mary held her child, loving him whether he was destined to save the world or not.
It was there, in a room ornate in its velvet cushions, rich tapestries, and exquisite woodwork that I was drawn to the least decorative item in the room. And I found myself searching for the faith that others have found so easily, so unabashedly deeply.
Will faith come to me as a startling revelation in a country who's faith is as old as the land? Where religion is the foundation of every house and the prayer for every crop, every drought, every life, and every death? Will faith be the blessing my soul craves as solace from this confusion called life?
On this amazing adventure to Ireland, I have found that the journey to find myself is an arduous trek, but I'm not afraid. As I've been told, "Fear is not of God," and I have faith that I will find home along the way...
