Hello Everyone!!!!
Sorry it's taken so long to get this first blog down on paper, but we've been a tad busz!!! Please read "Y" for "Z" and vice-versa if any of mz words look a bit weird - Am on a Croatian kezboard and thez're a bit funky!!!
So after we left East Midlands in floods of tears (admittedly me more than Luke!), we landed in Venice for two nights, staying at a campsite about 30mins bus from the main island. We were shown to our "house-tent", not having taken a tent of our own, which was more like a shoe box than a house, but we didn't have to put it up ourselves, which was handy!
Venice itself is gorgeous! The water was way clearer than I imagined, and we even had a little paddle in the afternoon of our first day there. More expensive than anything I've ever seen before though! We were drinking loads of water because of the heat, nut at 3euros a bottle, we ended up spening around 9Euros a daz on the stuff (those of you who were involved in my planning at all will know that i budgeted around 15 pounds a daz for food and drink, so not reallz the best start to the whole "plan"!!
Against all warnings, we stopped in St. Marks Square for a coke, as we needed to use the bathrooms, but when the waiter brought over the menu for me to peruse while Luke was gone, and I saw the 8Euro price tatg on a glass of coke, we chose to scarper instread of enjoying the scenery!
We caught a train to Rome next, and treated ourselves to our own room close to the centre this time. The landlord met us to let us into the guesthouse, and congratulated us that due to a cencellation, we'd won a "FREE UPGRADE" to a room with an ensuite "that usually cost 80Euro per night" he said. Delighted, we unpacked, later to find a bookng form he'd left in the room with us bz accident that showed the cost of the room as 55 Euro. As we were paying 50 anyway, we felt slightlz less lucky, but the best bit was when he came back and told us that we weren't eligible for the "breakfast" part of our B&B agreement, due to the fact that we'd got a bathroom instead??? We still got a B&B I suppose.....just not the "B" we wanted!!
That evening we went to the Trevi fountain, which is brilliant bz night! people everzwhere, having fun and drinking...and we managed to sit next to the token "drunken Bum", who was singing while flinging his beer bottle in everz direction other than his mouth!
The Roman ruins were prettz awesome in the dark too.....photos to follow!
The next daz was filled with Vatican - Sistine sight seeing (thank you to everzone at Fillets for funding that one! Michaelangelo's ceiling is out of this world!), followed bz the Colloseum and Roman Forum in the afternoon (Laura, Jim and Baby Joshua...thank you all for that one!). The ruins are amazing, but I was half expecting Russell Crowe to make an appearance and he never bothered....loser!
We then caught the overnight ferrz from Bari to Patras in Greece, and slept on the deck of the boat over night! I didn't realise that a "Deck" ticket would be quite so literal, but it was an adventure and fun to sleep under the VERZ windy stars!
Ital<y was great, if BREADY.....all meals consisted of bread or bread products...but the carb-junky in me loved it! It was reallz hot, and all the girls seemed to wear those Harem Pants things....not reallz getting it mzself, but whatever suits...! Not sure the Italians were all that appreciative of all the "S'il vous plaits" and "merci"s I kept blurting out, but thez got the gist!
SO GREECE.........
We got off the train somewhere between Patras and Athens, as Luke had started chatting to some German kids whjo were doing the same and invited us along. It was onlz as we got off the trsain that we realised thez were heading to a campsite, as thez had a tent, but we didn't, so for the second night in a row, we slept al fresco, in our sleeping bags on the beach. Hd a reallz good night though...although I'm not sure the Germans were toosure about mz drunken rendition of "ich habe ein Pony"....Mrs. Senior would be so proud!!!
The next daz we completed the journez to Athens, and although we found a hostel straight away, they had no beds, so another night on the floor for us! Getting quite used to it by now...
I'm sure most of zou alreadz know that Luke's wallet was pinched from my bag outside the acropolis. Gutted to say that the bag was open, so thez didn't have to be the world's best pick-pocket, but we were super pi**ed off that the whole of our first daz in Athens was spent cancelling cards and filling out forms at the Police station!
That aside, the citz itself was great...excpet for the dodgz street traders, who we were convinced had Luke's wallet. Hopefullz their English wasn't too hot, as we proceeded to Shout out everytime we went past one, telling them to give us our Bl**dy wallet back!"
Ruins and ruins and more ruins followed....all of which were pretty mind-blowing considering how very old they are! Thanks Olga and Evadne for paying for my entry to all the old Athens Sites! A postcard's on its way!
We had our first proper night out with some young French travellers, who insisted that all English regularly eat Jelly and Ice cream?? Nettles....do zou remember them going on about this in Rennes? I tried to put them straight, but thez were having none of it!
The next big event was a big 1-daz, 3-island cruise from Athens, which took us to PORAS, HYDRA and AEGINA. THANK ZOU RAYTHEON!!!! You paid for this massive luxurz day out for me and I loved it! As if in a subliminal message, Luke spotted a boat with "Raztheon" written on the top.....Claire....not too sure that it conforms to the True Raytheon Red Regulations, but I won't tell if you don't!
From there we moved on to Bulgaria, but mz dinner's nearly readz, so I'm going to tell zou all about it another day. We're now in Croatia and still living the life of Riley, but am missing you all terriblz, so please let me know all zour gossip either on here or on Facebook! LOVE ZOU!
ps - next time I hope to have mz consonants in a better order. yyyyyyyzzzzzzz

Time for Luke's Last Lyric......
Hi Y'all,
to say this trip so far has been unreal, would be an understatement. There is so much to put down on this tiny little blog and so little time. Also with Miss La Roche being an out of this world typist and a master of detail, it is my job as loving boyfriend and travel companion to leave out all of the boring details and monument stories, and to just fill you in on any of the gritty and embarassing details she might feel obliged to leave out.
I would start with my illusive wallet at the acropolis, but my fingers tremble to much with 'zip ya fu*?ing bag up' to type, so we'll move straight onto our daz at the vatican.
Just an hour before entering this godly monument, we were inside the ticket office chatting to the sales women, there infront of our eyes was a fat envelope filled with 50 and 100 euro notes. The lady turned her back for a moment and Danni looked at me and said, 'go on', I said 'what??', 'she'll never notice', Danni said. Being as holy and as pure as I am, I declined danni's impure attempt to take these god loving sisters for a ride.
Our fisrt steps from the ticket office lead us to a small grassy gnole, where we finished the rest of my precious gilati. We were sitting for no longer than 2 minutes when BOOM!! God's vengeance reigned down, all over Danni's ear and neck, in the form of a big warm pigeon pooh. That's the hardest i've laughed all trip.
(nice one christ).
Stay tuned next blog entry, for (LLL) Lukes Last Lyric.!!
