New York Film Academy 5th day
Open Pre-Prodction Time
Open Pre-Production Time is used to prepare for the shoots ou have. So our crew (Chris Ike, Thomas and me) got to school early and laid out our ideas and brainstormed about them. My first idea I already figured to be better for the next assignment. So yesterday I rewrote the 1st idea and came up with something else for my Mise-en Scene.
We also watched Pulp Fiction in one of the viewing rooms in the library. The library has a huge collection of dvd's and movie scripts. Since I evidently was pretty much finished the other guys worked out their stories.
Crew Meetings (Josh Adler)
Josh wanted to know what stories we were going to shoot. Instead of the whole class coming in we had to go in crew at a time. This so the other classmates don't know the stories of one and other so if they first view your film they can judge if you were able to tell the story through your film.
Josh told us he expected a lot from us because he thinks we're the super crew. He might tell that to everybody though. But for the time being I took it as a compliment and already wanted to preform well but now I just feel the need to rock it even harder.
He had bad news as well. He told us for the next assignment we might have to break up the crews. But we took a stance and said we wanted to stay in one crew no matter what. And he appreciated that. Don't know if we'll stay in one crew though. Keep your fingers crossed.
Open Casting (Rick Kostenick)
5 actors from the 4 week acting program at NYFA came in today to audition for us. We had to lay down some scenarios and let them act them out. The problem is though that there are 12 directors and only 5 actors. And there was one really good actress and one decent actress and only one actor,… The other 2 actresses weren't that good. I was really looking for facial expressions and for body language and in my opinion only one of them really did that well.
Directly after class I mailed all the actors and asked one of them to play in my miss-en scene. Only one of them replied. But she's not fit for the part,… :( So I might have to do the acting myself which I hate because I need to be directing! But if all else fails. Or does anybody want to fly in. You need to be here Sunday morning at 9:00 local time ;)

Astrid van Yperen Nou je wilde toch ook een acteer-cessie doen. Nu sla je 2 vliegen in een klap. Groetjes en kus.
