What a day! Started being taken to see Ho Chi Minh's body, laying in state mausoleum...he is reverered by the people n the experience was very surreal..then onto his palace and house during the war n gardens. Onto temple of Confusiciois from 11th century. The French tried to destroy a lot of the original history as they left in 1954 but much remains from centuries of Chinese occupation and the beautiful French buildings from 1870 onwards. Walked through old quarter...would have struggled to do all of this without the guide,Khan who is giving us so much history. Getting hot now so heading inside at 2pm before water puppet show later...
Bex here in case anyone wondering where I had go to! Dan is hogging the blogging! Arrived yesterday in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam and its quite chaotic with a billion motorbikes everywhere! We have a tour guide to take us around all the important bits! Yes all the war stuff! Lucky me got to see a corpse today! Not just any but Ho Chin Minh who was the president of Vietnam through the war years! You see you get to learn something here too! Anyways just been to a Water Puppet show, a must apparently!! Yep it definitely is what it is.. People are lovely here - friendly, smiley, happy, we have much in common! Off to Halong Bay on a boat tomorrow for a few days, and you know how much I love boats! Sin Chow for now.. thats hello.. I haven't learn goodbye yet!! x
