Slept in a bit this morning, but got up in time to go for a quick drive up to an old communications tower that had been destroyed during the war, and get some good views of the city as well.
Made our way up there through some very residential backstreets and with another hand drawn Beno speciallty map in hand. Had a somewhat hairy moment when I missed the turn on a very very steep road, reversed down a bit so I could turn on to the correct road. Yanked the hand brake on, then went to start. As I lifted the brake off, the car started rolling back a bit so I gave it more gas and lifted the clutch, then the car launch bakwards at a frightning speed. Hit the brakes and thankfully skidded to a stop. And took the transmission out of Reverse. All I can say is we were dam lucky the wheels were straight and we lurched straight backwards and not over the hill....
Feeling a little sheepish, and with two very nervous passengers we got to the top for some amazing views of the entire city.
Quickly dropped the car off, and then walked into the city centre again. Just hung around there for the day, went to the old town square and to the Latin bridge where Franz Ferdinand was shot, which essentially caused WW1 to break out.
Went back to the hostel early evening and just enjoyed the warm weather by reading a book and having some more the good local beer. Later at night Beno took us up to a coffee shop up on a high hill that overlooked the city, another amazing view at night time! Met and was talking to a guy from Germany who eventually caught a ride with us back into Sarajevo where we had dinner together. Got back to hostel at around 11pm.
