Today's Tunes:
Tons of horrible Radio 1 bulls***.
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
Angels & Airwaves - Saturday Love
Another busy but nice day again today. Keeping in mind the amount of stuff we had to do I set my alarm last night for the usually alien hour on a Sunday of 9 a.m. It was a nice day outside, clear blue sky & warm enough that we could feel the heat from our crappy storage heaters as god forbid the f***ing things work when it's cold.
I made breakfast for Catherine & I, had a quick shower, grabbed what I needed and headed to Tesco to get Mum a birthday card & pick up some bits for the drive to the airport.
I'd text Dad earlier that morning to say I'd be at Nan's for 11 and when I got there around 11:20 both he & Mum were already there. I hadn't seen Nan in a while so there was the usual chat & she brought up the new flat that me & Catherine were going to move into. "Perfect", I thought, I can tell her why we need 2 bedrooms! So that's what I did and I handed her the card. She didn't understand the writing on the front so that didn't give it away & as soon as she opened it and gave the picture a good look she turned to me and said "Well I'll be b*****ed". She was really happy and said she thought I'd be a good dad but she's my Nan so she's supposed to say that. She tried to ring my Aunt, Tina, but she was out and then she got my other aunt, Jackie, to come round with my godson Matthew, his brother Tyler & my cousin Tees. They (apart from Tyler who didn't really have a clue what was going on as he's only 3) couldn't believe it! None of them want to know the sex of the baby when we find out at our next scan so that could be a bit tricky to keep under wraps. My Nan said she'd like it to be a girl as all her great grandchildren so far have been boys, we'll soon find out!
I left Nan's to go see my mate Pete to give him the news but he was out so I rang him. He was chuffed & said that Catherine & I would be great parents & to pass his congratulations on to her. We spoke about how it all seems so much more real during & after the scan and how he felt the first time he saw his son Luke on the scan screen. It was nice to talk about it with someone who knows what it's like & we arranged to meet up for a beer when I get back from Pisa.
Speaking of which, there was packing to be finished. It didn't take too long but we left a couple things til the last minute like travel insurance, me updating my iPod, Catherine accidentally taking our luggage case padlock keys to her Mums (her mum
congratulated me on the baby news when we returned to pick them up) getting the car washed & in the rush I forgot to take my mums birthday card with us to The White Buck, a nice pub in the New Forest that we were going to, to celebrate my Mums birthday with all my immediate family & Lauren's fiancé Jon. Everyone gave Catherine a big hug to congratulate her and we showed Richard & Lauren the scan photograph. We had a nice meal & plenty of laughs to, especially at Dad being a waiter in training and when I toasted to Mum, Dad included our good news into it, it was a nice touch!
We left the Buck and headed straight to the Arora Hotel which is where I'm writing all this from now. The drive wasn't too bad & Catherine was in good voice when singing along to the recently deceased Whitney Houston classic 'I will always Love you'! The rest of the music was atrocious, I can't stand all this chart music. It all sounds too samey, just watered down horse s*** for the masses. Anyway, I digress. It took us about 2 and a half hours to get to the hotel. We parked up & upon walking in were very impressed. We gave them our details, booked the shuttle bus to the airport in the morning & I got us a bite to eat from the pub (inside the hotel) while Catherine relaxed in the room. This is definitely a good way to go if you want to take the stress out of driving to the airport & flying the same day. We're nice & relaxed now, ready for a good nights sleep!
All in all, another good day & I'm looking forward to what tomorrow brings!
